Fact

When browsing through articles of a magazine a few days ago, I came upon a caption that read:

"Did you know that there are 206 bones in the adult human body and there are 300 in children (as they grow, some of the bones fuse together)."

I wonder if we could have known that if children didn't die so young...

Dear friend,

We are a group of Spanish young people who are studying a Master in Book Publishing
[http://www.santillanaformacion.com/v2.0/master_presentacion.html?id=cw42823c5f4bcbc].

The main project in our Master is carrying out the creation of a “made-up publishing house”, with a coherent catalog of titles according to the principles of the group’s philosophy. This catalog includes a main title which is given more importance than the rest of the chosen titles; thus, we follow the real process of the creation of a publishing house and production of the main title.

Our philosophy is based on the consciousness of the narrow barriers that separate the different expressions of art. We wish to create a product that joins both the graphic arts and the written word in a context of social awareness. We want to break the boundaries of text and communicate through the thoughts in lines and images of those who reflect their world in paper. From the picture of beauty in the streets to the drawings of the critic, through the words of the poet and the experiences of the journalist the margins of the pages can be bent, and frontiers broken.

The project we intend to carry out as main title of our catalog would be a compilation of drawings and poems, with the war in Lebanon as theme. Thus, Lebanon 2006 would try to cover the artistic expressions generated by the conflict through 20 different poems and drawings, preceded by a prologue about this summer’s events.

For this purpose, we are looking for poems and other short written expressions that reflect feelings, situations, whatever you witnessed or felt during the conflict. The texts will accompany drawings by Mazen Kerbaj, our luxury collaborator.

The texts may be written in English, French or Spanish (all of them will have a translation into Spanish). If somebody want to send in Arab, please do, but make sure you enclose a translation into any of the languages before mentioned.

Given that the publication is not lucrative, we will hold no rights over your work and you will be able to use it however you want. Anyway, this project will certainly reach many publishers in Spain and could be a good way to make your words known abroad.

If you are willing to participate please let us know. Do not hesitate to write us for any question or comment you may have.

Sincerely,

Márgenes Editorial
